While all of my European and American friends are excited for the spring, the evenings are getting colder and shorter here in the Southern Hemisphere. Luckily there are still few days to dip in the pool and enjoy the heat.
Day 22- Winter is coming
When the sun is setting, between dusk and darkness, there is a moment when the light turns blue. And the world stops for a heartbeat.
While all of my European and American friends are excited for the spring, the evenings are getting colder and shorter here in the Southern Hemisphere. Luckily there are still few days to dip in the pool and enjoy the heat.
Merlin’s friend Jozi is staying with us for a week – just in time for some more rain and mud. We took the pups to the park today to get rid of some of that excess energy (like it would make any difference…) when the sun came out for a while. Jozi was stubbornly refusing to accept us as the pack leaders, and ended back in the leash.
I don’t think there is any fruit as happy as a naartjie. The colour alone will make you smile.
Close to our house there is a park that has a section of trees long dead and dried up. The park has now started to cut them down, which s a pity as they are actually quite beautiful with their long white trunks and leafless branches.
Breakfast with the ladies to celebrate an upcoming wedding. Sunshine and a lot of laughter. Perfect start to a Wednesday.
One area I really need more practise on is my Photoshop skills. I have a long list of projects I want to try, but due to limited time today (work gets in the way of the best photography), I just did one of the easy classics.
My failed attempts at boot-photography kept bugging me, so I decided to give it another go. I failed. Instead, Merlin became fascinated by the mirror – after a long hesitation on whether it was to be trusted. After all, you never know if you may just fall thru.
Over the weekend I bought a fabulous pair of boots (…the boots to die for). That got me thinking of fashion photography. I’ve never been keen on fashion as such, but the creativity involved in the photography is fascinating. Without a model, I was unable to get a good picture of the boots in question (a real first world problem), but here is a little experiment nevertheless.
There is one good side for being short – I always have plenty of legroom in the plane. Besides that, there is really not that much going for it. One of my pet peeves is that any piece of clothing I buy needs to be shortened. Another evening spent next to a sewing machine…
Back home. After a long nap (Conferences are taxing. The better thay are, the more tired you’ll be…) and a dip in the pool, I settled down again.
Whenever I’m gone for more than a day, Merlin does not leave my side for few days. These eyes followed me everywhere.
