When the sun is setting, between dusk and darkness, there is a moment when the light turns blue. And the world stops for a heartbeat.
I try to work from home about once a week. I don’t live very close to the office, so working from home gives me quite a lot of extra time to the day. I spent a little bit of that extra time today to make myself a great prawn salad for lunch – and to eat it outside on the terrace in the sunshine. Tough times!
Stuart is away for the week, so my dinners are a bit more simple. Pasta with good pesto is a weekday savior. With some good parmesan.
While I went shopping today (not something I was not very excited about), I dropped Merlin off for a ‘playdate’ at friend’s house (Remember Merlin’s best friend, Jozi from day 21?). The main benefit from taking Merlin there for a day is that he is exhausted afterwards and requires no attention, thus leaving me to read – or edit photos.
While on a walk, we came across these massive flowers – every flower was almost as big as my head. As it often happens, the photos I took were no match for the reality, so I’ll just post this one with an interesting focus effect. I’ll go back and try again.
Ever since the Kindle entered my life many years ago, I have been able to reduce the amount of (additional) shelf space I need in my house. The only books I still buy as printed editions are travel guides (you never know how good Wi-Fi you are going to have) and cookbooks. That being said, we’ll soon need a bookcase for the cookbooks alone. What are your favourites?
Merlin loves food. With passion. His favourite times of the day are the mealtimes and not a second is wasted in gulping down the food. He has also developed a very accurate internal clock for the mealtimes, and is diligent in ensuring we don’t miss the right moment – at least not by more than 10-15 seconds.
Getting back into the habit of taking photos has made me much more appreciative of little things. For example, I am not sure if I’ve ever before looked at a straw closely enough to realise it actually makes a little dent in the water.
The weekend becomes quite uneventful, when your husband is sick (it’s not quite the man-flu but the next worst thing…). Thus I spent my weekend reading and playing with some shapes in the water.
With all the fancy trinkets in the kitchen, there is still nothing that quite brings the same joy of cooking as a good mortar.
While we were on holiday, the winter sneaked in. With the change-of-season flu going strong, cup of tea and fire are the perfect way to end an evening.
